Who we are

Dispelling myths and breaking the cycle

Beyond Waste is a dynamic research and consulting organisation created in order to make an active contribution to the global transition from a waste economy to a resource economy.

We do this by offering policy advice, facilitation and training services while remaining mindful of the impacts of our activities. We work at the cutting edge of rapidly evolving waste and resource management policy. We are in the process of becoming a registered evidence provider on Sustainable Waste Management with the DEFRA sponsored Sustainable Development Research Network.

Beyond Waste aims to work with and empower its clients to inspire them to think beyond their most immediate problems. All too often the 'important' can get swamped by the 'urgent'.

The UK's ecological footprint has been calculated to be 4.72 hectares per person - that's about the size of two international football pitches each (The New Economics Foundation). If every citizen of the planet had a similar footprint, 3 planet earths would be needed.
For 10g of gold nearly 5 tonnes of earth is displaced.
Each household produces nearly 1 tonne of waste per year - that's about the weight of a Smart car.
For every tonne of waste each household produces more than 7 tonnes of waste has been generated through the production cycle - that means each household is responsible for a mass of waste heavier than an African bull elephant each year!
