Dave Longden BA(Hons) MSc

David has a specialist interest in facility siting and the development of tools to aid in optimising locally based renewable power systems. He has recently completed a PhD in County Planning of energy generation from Waste and Biomass. This involved the development of a GIS based site screening tool along with deployment of multicriteria modelling to identify optimal locations for different facilities and evaluate different scale energy from waste scenarios. This included assessment of associated transport impacts. This was a CASE industrial project undertaken with Compact Power (UK) Ltd, Cornwall and Warwickshire County Councils. He has set up a dedicated website for his PhD [http://www.beyondyourbin.org/content/view/5/15/]. He is now exploring the potential to integrate this tool with an LCA approach.
Prior to commencing his PhD, he was employed by ECOTEC Research and Consulting, where he deployed his research skills to undertake data analysis, and interpretation, report writing, telephone and face-to-face consultations, project monitoring and liaison with sub-contractors. Projects and clients included:

- EU Energy Indicators Publication (DG Tren, European Commission)
- A Review of UK Energy from Landfill Gas (ETSU)
- Sustainability East Midlands Website Development (EMRA)
- Feasibility study of Renewable Energy scenarios in Bedfordshire (Beds. County Council)
He has an MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Technology from Loughborough University, and a BA (Hons) in Environmental Management.
When not working with Beyond Waste, David continues to play an active role in supporting Compact Power's development.
David enjoys hiking in the countryside, canoeing and cycling.
